Summer on the Water

What is more refreshing in summer than time on, near, or in the water. Of course here in Michigan we are blessed with so many waterways, large and small.
Here at The Gift Shop, we have some lovely artwork that reflects the joy and serenity of life near the water. This week the works of Hilda Havlik, Catherine Firmbach, Roselyn Rhodes, Robert Mowry, and Marianna Defer-Pfeifer are featured, each piece with a "Life on the Water" theme.

Hilda Havlik is a photographer with a great eye for composition and atmosphere. Here is just one of her photos. It shows kayaks on a beach.

Catherine Firmbach is another one of our talented photographers. Pictured is a beautiful sunset on the water.

The paintings of Roselyn Rhodes are so beautiful and evocative. Here is a Glicee print of her painting of sailboats on the water.

Can you possibly have too many photos of sunrises/sunsets on the water? Here is a really pretty photo from Robert Mowry of just that.

Marianna Defer-Pfeifer is a gifted painter, and painting instructor. Here is a calm scene of Lake Michigan that Marianna has created.

Belle Isle at The Gift Shop

Most of us have good memories of times spent on Belle Isle. It is one of Detroit's most enchanting places. Some of our artists have captured the beauty of Belle Isle in photos and paintings. Those artists include: Roselyn Rhodes, Robert Mowry, and Winnie Chrzanowski.

Roselyn Rhodes has created a breezy summer feel with her Giclee print entitled "Little Red Bridge on Belle Isle".

Roselyn also offers this beautiful painting of one of the reflective pools on Belle Isle entitled "Willows on the Pond".

Robert Mowry has photographed many iconic scenes of Detroit. Here is his photo of the Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory on Belle Isle.

Winnie Chrzanowski is one of our favorite photographers. Here is her photo of a placid scene on Belle Isle.

Celebrate Detroit!

Here at The Gift Shop, we have artists who create art with Detroit in mind. We will look at the work of three of those artists today...Robert Mowry, the late Constance Powell, and James Williams.

Robert Mowry takes iconic photos of many Detroit landmarks. This eye-catching print of the "Faygo" logo is just a sample of his work.

Constance Powell is no longer with us, but we still carry her wonderful drawings thanks to her daughter. Constance's mastery pen, ink, and water color are evident in her renderings of many iconic Detroit buildings, and venues. Here is one of her Detroit sports related prints.

James Williams has created prints of his oil paintings that also depict many Detroit sports venues. Here is one of his prints of Ford Field.

Whether you grew-up in Detroit and want to own a bit of nostalgia, or you are a Detroit sports fan, we have something for you at The Gift Shop.
