"Artist of the Month" for June

The Gift Shop "Artist of the Month" for June is Onorio Catenacci. Onorio is another one of our multi-talented artists. He is a sculptor, a mixed media artist, and a photographer. His works are imaginative, thought provoking, and they also display his sense of humor.

"I was born in Detroit, Michigan to Italian parents and educated at the Center for Creative Arts, Detroit, MI and Oakland University (BS, MA) in Rochester Hills, MI.
Having lived in six states and three countries, served in the US Army abroad and worked in the USA, Canada, Mexico, the UK and Malta, I have had the privilege of experiencing a wide variety of cultures, art and most important ... People, from all walks of life.
I chose the phrase: 'Ora Vediamo' (Italian for: "now you see") to represent my work; which hopefully allows you to see what I see .... to communicate with each other, to exchange, to learn and grow. A collaboration which will enrich both artist and viewer."
Pictured are three of Onorio's "Ball Bearings" sculptures.

I mentioned that Onorio is also a photographer. Here are some of the greeting cards he has created from his photographs

"We don't have to be the same to fly together"

"Want to hang out?"

"Artist of the Month" for May

The Gift Shop "Artist of the Month" for May is Antonietta Woerner.

Antonietta Woerner

"Born in Germany, I immigrated to the United States in 2000. Being a massage therapist by trade my hobbies were always working in the artistic field. Coming from quilt making, knitting and crocheting I switched to jewelry ( beads) making and finally found my home in painting. I am working to make painting my full time hobby. It is an art which I really enjoy doing and also enjoy the reaction of people when they see the art work."

Here at The Gift Shop, we have Antonietta's jewelry, featuring her intricate woven-bead work.

She has also brought us her paintings. The three below are done with alcohol ink on tiles covered with resin for protection, mounted and framed.
