April "Artist of the Month"

The "Artist of the Month" for April is Robert Gilchrist.
Robert is an imaginative and innovative pottery artist. His glazes are so colorful, and used in very interesting combinations. Robert's pieces can be functional, or purely ornamental. Here are two samples of Robert Gilchrist's (GILC) clay creations.

(Remember, the letters in parentheses are Robert's code. When you see that code on work in The Gift Shop, you will know that he created it.)

It is worth noting that Robert has taken clay classes here at Anton Art Center.

Spring Blooms at The Gift Shop

It is the first week of Spring. Early plants are just beginning to sprout, and we are all ready to enjoy the blooms to come. You can enjoy the color and joy of flowers in your own home with the lovely art from The Gift Shop.
This week features the blooming art of Pete Snodgrass, Helena Kuttner-Giasson, and David Dinsdale.

Pete Snodgrass (SNOD) is a watercolor artist. His original paintings and cards of flowers and fruit are so sweet.

Helena Kuttner-Giasson (KUTT) is one of our favorite painters. She is adept at many styles and mediums. Her flower paintings are just lovely. Shown are two of her paint and ink prints. We also have Helena's cards.

David Dinsdale's (DINS) photographs are so vivid and rich. His flower portraits are especially beautiful.

Baubles, Pebbles, and Purses

Baubles, pebbles, and bright hand-made purses are in the spotlight this week at The Gift Shop.
Our featured artists are: Connie Babinchak, Jay Lozen, and Rosie Kiley.

Connie Babinchak (BAB) is a new jewelry artist fresh from Christmas Market 2016. Her pieces are very pretty, and are offered in sets.

Next is a brand new artist to The Gift Shop, Jay Lozen (LOZ). Jay decorates ordinary objects with bright, colorful pebbles, turning them into art pieces with an organic look. Jay has told us that he finds and polishes each pebble!

Now comes Rosie Kiley (KILE). Her hand-crafted purses are as well made as they are attractive and versatile.

Silk, cards, and St. Patrick's Day at The Gift Shop

The variety and consistent quality of the artwork available here at The Gift Shop continues to offer our patrons unique gift-giving options.
This week there are three more Christmas Market 2016 artists who have joined The Gift Shop. The featured artists are: Cynthia VanHaaren, Linda Burton, and Jan Gunning.

Cynthia VanHaaren (VANH) hand paints gorgeous silk scarves. Pictured is one of her scarves with iconic Detroit  landmarks. We also have a lamp crafted with one of her vivid silk images, pictured below.

Linda Burton (BUR) has brought us bright, colorful greeting cards. Each one has an inspiring message inside.

Jan Gunning (GUN) had her decorative wreaths in our Christmas Market 2016, but wreaths are not just for the Christmas holidays. Here is a very special wreath for the celebration of Saint Patrick's Day!
