Artist of the Month for September

Our Gift Shop "Artist of the Month" for September is clay artist Linda Ruehle.

Linda has pursued artistic endeavors throughout her life and has devoted a significant part of it encouraging others to follow their own creative passions. She presently serves as the Arts Education Director for the Shiawassee Arts Center. She lives in Owosso.
Linda began to work in clay about 20 years ago. She feels a connection through clay with a history of people who love and have loved pottery and recognizes the magic of making earth become art. Nature provides a limitless source of inspiration and textures for creating her new work.

Above are three examples of Linda's "deeply carved" clay series.

This leaf plate is about 10" across.

This beautiful Hosta leaf dish shows off Linda's gorgeous "eggplant" color glaze.

This two-piece veggie platter and bowl set are still another example of the lovely glazes that Linda has chosen.

Add Color to your Decor!

Here at The Gift Shop we have wall art artists who work in many styles, mediums, and choice of subjects.

Today we will look at the very colorful works of Sandra DeBose-Howard, Gloria Goeddeke, and Anastasia Chamiok.

Sandra DeBose-Howard paints bold, colorful abstracts using acrylics.

The late Gloria Goeddeke painted classic and impressionistic works in watercolor, oils, and pastels. We are lucky that her daughter has brought us some of her framed originals, and prints of her works.

Anastasia Chamiok creates beautiful original matted works with pastels.

Come in and see the beautiful wall art available from the featured artists and many more, here at The Gift Shop.

New Artist in The Gift Shop

We have a new artist here at The Gift Shop. Her name is Marty Ferguson.

Marty is a multi-talented award-winning artist, and teacher. Her work includes jewelry, found-object creations, and clay. She has brought us pieces from her "Quilted", and "Doily Hearts" collection.

Marty's hearts are imaginative, and her glazes are so very colorful. Each heart is about 4 1/2"x 3 1/2"...small enough to tuck one or a few into your decor.

The Gift Shop "Artist of the Month" for August

The Gift Shop "Artist of the Month" for August is Patrick Dinunzio.

Patrick has fashioned wall art from metal and different woods. His process includes precise laser cutting, detailed hand carving, and creative wood staining.

Below are two examples of Patrick's metal wall pieces.

Here we have three of Patrick's detailed wood creations in his "Steampunk" series.

Finally, another wooden wall piece with an ancient Egyptian theme.

Patrick is not the only artist in  the family...his wife Ilene Dinunzio makes handmade paper beads that she uses in her lovely necklaces. The necklaces are all 28" to 40" ...long enough to place over the head without the need for clasps. These close-ups of just three of her necklaces show the bead and pendant details.

Aren't they pretty?

Find Patrick's and Ilene's work and much more here at The Gift Shop!
