The Gift Shop is for the birds!

Bird watching is such a popular hobby for so many people, and Spring in Michigan is especially sweet for them. Here at The Gift Shop we have some hand-made, unique, and artful gifts for birds...and the people who love them.
How about a bright hand painted bird house from Mary Tassone?

Here is a very clever bird house in the shape of a trailer from Darlene Bosman. Several styles are available, including a "woody" trailer.

Bird feeders are another way to show your "bird love". Here is one from Tom Need. The bright orange color is designed to attract Baltimore Orioles. Fill the glass dish with grape jelly and watch them go for it!

Come in and see these gifts for birds, and so much more at The Gift Shop.

While you are at Anton Art Center, be sure to check-out the newest exhibit in the upstairs Community Gallery : "2015 Student and Faculty Show". The work of the talented people who teach classes here at Anton, and the work produced by their students is showcased in this exhibit.
Look and see what you could be inspired to create by taking classes at Anton Art Center. Check out the Summer class schedule  and pick out a class for yourself!

Collage and assemblage artist at The Gift Shop

We are so happy to welcome artist Patti Pfaendtner to The Gift Shop. Patti has been a popular regular at Christmas Markets, now you can find her work year-round here at The Gift Shop!

                                                           Patti Pfaendtner (PFA)

Patti's works are quite unique, from pretty to mystical, and some that are a little bit edgy.
The pieces we have are examples of her wall art assemblages. She employs found objects, vintage elements, collage and distress techniques, and lots of imagination!

Here is another of Patti's pieces. Each is very detailed, and thought provoking.... there is alot going on in each finished work.

Come in to see Patti's work, and all the other interesting, creative, fun, functional, and beautiful art we have here at The Gift Shop.

Garden volunteer(s) needed

We are planning now for a beautiful summer here at Anton Art Center., but we are going to need some help.

We need a dedicated volunteer, or volunteers to maintain our gardens from about mid May through frost. The volunteer(s) would be responsible for watering, weeding, and care of the gardens. The main garden is pictured below. It contains existing perennials, and shrubs. Other garden spaces around the Art Center contain shrubs / trees, and would only need weeding. Outside water is available, but all other tools would be the volunteer(s)' own.

It doesn't look like much now, but with some TLC, it will be brimming with color!

If you are interested, or have questions, email at: giftshop@theartcenter.org . Please put "Gardens" in the subject line.

New artist brings glass wind chimes to The Gift Shop

We have another new artist here at The Gift Shop.
Her name is Theresa Lowe, and she has brought us some beautiful glass wind-chimes. The colors are just wonderful, and the sound they make is so sweet! She has very cleverly attached the chimes to natural wood, and decorated each one with bright beads...you get rustic and refined in the same piece.

Here are a few of the wind-chimes she has crafted:

Spring is here, so it's time, (or soon will be) to start decorating your outdoor space. A lovely wind-chime is a great place to start! Come to The Gift Shop and pick one out for yourself.
