Just for Fun!

Art can be fun! This week we will look at the amusing, whimsical, and "just for fun" art here at the Art Market in Anton Art Center.

Darren Dundee is adept at creating mixed media art pieces from found objects. The fanciful title he gives to each piece adds to the joke!

Connie Sochacki makes the most clever and detailed Art Dolls.

Martha Millis has brought us some amusing fused glass animal portraits. Each framed piece can be displayed on a desk-top, or hung on a wall.

Mino Watanabe is a gifted illustrator. Pictured is one of her whimsical greeting cards, which could easily be framed as a wall piece!

Patricia Riley is another creator of very detailed and fun Art Dolls, just full of personality!

Add some fun to your art. Come see us soon. We are open Tuesday - Saturday 11am to 3pm each day. We have strict cleaning procedures and require masks, social distancing and we ask health questions to keep you, our volunteers, and staff safe.

Showing now at Anton Art Center:

Jane Peterson (America, 1876–1965) "Women and Children in the Park" 1908. Oil, 18"× 24"  from the Nancy and Sean Cotton Collection.

Visions of American Life: Selections from the Nancy and Sean Cotton Collection, in partnership with the DIA. In person and online March 9 - April 12. Through these works, it is possible to see the evolution of the United States from a young republic to a modern nation with global ambitions in the twentieth century.

Macomb County Annual Secondary Student Show, March 6 - April 13, 2021 presented by Extra Credit Union. This juried show will feature the artwork of Macomb County students grades 7 - 12. A virtual and on-site exhibition featuring 274 artworks by 191 students.

This exhibit will be available both in person in our gallery space with 97 artworks on display, and online with all 274 artworks displayed. A special thank you to the Macomb County art teachers and students, as well as our award sponsors, staff, volunteers, donors, and board members for making this event possible.

The student shows are highly anticipated each year. You will be inspired by what these young people can do!
